Gucci is one of those brands which defines the excellence of Milanese fashion. And with the appointment of Alessandro Michele, Gucci has certainly got a new brand identity. Gorgeous colours and gender neutral silhouettes have somewhat become the brand’s signature. Be it those dragon-inspired prints, slouchy blazers with fitted trousers or shirts made in lace, nothing is out of Gucci’s creative vocabulary. However Alessandro did something different for Gucci’s Fall 2016 show.
Alessandro Michele has been hailed as the precursor of change in a fashion house such as Gucci, which is now seeking inspiration from an art form like graffiti, known to be limited to streets and often related to rebellion. He told Womens Wear Daily, “I saw the way Trevor was using the symbol of the company and I thought it was quite genius.”
This is isn’t the first time that a luxury house has collaborated with a graffiti artist. Louis Vuitton collaborated with Stephen Sprouse in 2001.
