Add glamorous shoes: If you are going to a restaurant with a formal dress code, wear black pointed shoes or peep-toes. Make sure that the heels are not very high so that you can stay comfortable. You can also go for metallic shades such as silver, gold or copper. Shoes with beautiful embellishments or sequins will also work very well. Try and avoid patent leather shoes, they look a little outdated. Opt for suede instead. Gladiators, pumps and kitten heels also look great with the little black dress. Wear them in bright colours to spice it up. A pair of red pumps will always look chic.

Make it sophisticated with a jacket: Pairing up your basic black dress with a nice jacket will add panache to your look. Wearing a short classic tweed jacket is the safest option. Opting for a floral print jacket is also a great idea. One can also try colourful geometric patterns. Embroidered jackets always look extremely elegant so you can try ones with zari or zardozi work to add a touch of regality to the look. A well-fitted leather jacket is a good idea for the winter season. If you need to accentuate your shape, you can also go for jackets with peplums and belts to fit your waist.

Give it a fusion look with Indian jewellery: If your LBD is absolutely plain, try chandelier or tear drop pearl earrings. If you have around face go for long danglers or shoulder dusters. Indian polki or kundan jewellery paired with a little black dress makes a strong style statement. Pairing it with a nice geometric shaped cuff will also work. Don’t go for heavy necklaces, though. We suggest some bead strings falling down your neck. And yes, nothing replaces a beautiful baroque cocktail ring with colourful stones.
Accessorize with a clutch, belt or a stole: When wearing a figure-hugging black dress, go for metallic clutches in different shapes. Try oversized rectangular shaped handbags with gold detailing. You can have fun with lots of colours and prints. For an extra bit of shine, try a gold metallic belt. If you want a feminine and demure look, don’t forget to carry a coloured pashmina stole.
