Sunny Leone with her stylist and costume designer Hitesh Kapopara
Bollywood actors are known to be picky when it comes to their managers, stylists and staff members. And once they find a right fit, they refuse to let go or part ways no matter what! One such example is that of Bollywood and reality TV star Sunny Leone and her costume designer and stylist Hitesh Kapopara.
From the day Sunny stepped into Indian showbiz, she has been styled by Hitesh, a relationship that is now five years old. In an exclusive interview, the stylist shares his equation with Sunny, her fashion turn-ons and turn-offs, her favourite brands and other style secrets. Read on!
Sunny and Hitesh, the beginning:
It all began five years ago when a director called me and asked me to come for a meeting as I had to dress up his model for a shoot. The model was none other than Sunny Leone. I designed three dresses for her and she loved them all. Post the shoot she went back to the US.
A month later I got a call from someone asking me to design outfits for Sunny for a New Year’s Eve event in Delhi. Yet again Sunny liked my costumes and from then there was no looking back! Right from her first film ‘Jism 2’ till the latest ‘One Night Stand’, I have designed all her costumes. I also style her for all her red-carpet appearances, events, parties and so on.

The most difficult Sunny Leone film ever:
I must say ‘Ek Paheli Leela’. It was quite a heavy project in which Sunny’s character goes from a Western to a desi avatar. The film went from past to present to the reincarnation and all that led to a lot of research, thought process and work.

Sunny + Hitesh, the equation
Sunny is my rakhi sister. She has a little brother who is my age, so she ties rakhi to me as well. We are also like 3 a.m. buddies. When we have free time on our hands we go to watch movies together. Also, whenever I am at her place discussing work, she cooks food for both of us. She is truly a friend in deed – I remember how post my surgery she took me to her hometown in the US just to cheer me up.

Sunny Leone’s wardrobe secrets
Jumpsuits are strictly a no-no for Sunny. I have asked her to avoid them. Instead, I have included a lot of desi wear in her wardrobe. Earlier she would shy away from wearing Indian clothes but now she has a good collection of saris and suits, with delicate embroideries.
