Confused about what facial will suit your skin? You’re not alone. Before you head for a much-awaited pamper session at your favourite salon, you need to know which facial will work best for your skin type. With such a huge variety of facials offered these days, here’s a breakdown of the facials as per your skin.
Normal to Dry Skin
Due to external factors like overexposure to sun, pollution, stress, lifestyle and also with age, our skin starts getting damaged. Facials using hydrating products can not only repair but also quench the skin.
Retinol and stem cell facials are best suited for such skin types. These facials are anti-ageing, reduce fine lines, wrinkles and promote regeneration of new cells. The stem cell facial is the latest craze and uses stem cells which have higher levels of antioxidants as compared to other botanical extracts. They give a powerful boost to collagen production, cell regeneration and slow down the signs of photo-aging (ageing due to sun damage).
Gold facials use nano particles of gold. The metal has been known for its anti-bacterial and anti-ageing benefits. It gets easily absorbed into the skin, making it brighter. Mostly given to brides-to-be, this procedure adds a fresh glow to the skin.
Platinum facial retards the process of ageing by penetrating deep inside the skin and revitalizing it with its benefits. The precious metal accelerates the collagen production and improves the elasticity of the skin. It is good for those with combination skin type as well.
The common problem that bothers this type of skin is blackheads, whiteheads and acne. So the treatment needs to include deep cleansing with exfoliation to remove dirt, grime and dead skin from the pores. Instead of scrubbing with chemical peels, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels are used to exfoliate. The most important part of the facial is the pack. The ingredients of the pack should have antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients to suppress pimples. It is very important that these packs tighten the pores to inhibit breakouts afterwards. All the products used during the procedure should be gel-based with ingredients like seaweed, algae and aloe vera.
Vitamin C facial gives a boost of antioxidants to the skin. It not only helps renew the cells but also removes free radicals. It heals sun damaged skin, brown spots, post-acne marks, pigmentation and improves skin elasticity. This procedure suits all skin types, even sensitive skin.

The skin is hyperactive to environmental, topical and internal factors, to which other skin types are usually quite tolerant. One needs to be careful while dealing with such skin type. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go for such treatments.
Fruit facials are ideal for them. Products with ingredients like fruit enzymes, essential oils and various other organic extracts replenish the skin. Procedures like dermabrasion and chemical peels can’t be advised for such skin type.
Pearl facials help speed up the skin’s metabolism, and at the same time calms and detoxifies it. But it is not limited to a particular skin type and can be used for others as well. It retains moisture and rejuvenates the skin. It also reduces discolouration and leaves you with an even-toned skin.
So next time you go for a facial, choose the right one!
