Showstopper. The word itself adds so much pressure towards ensuring that all elements of a designer's vision and show's last moments hit the pinnacle. And like for every showstopper, it started with me too from selecting the outfit out of the presented choices by Varun Bahl's team.
Other than choosing something that will work for my body type, another important factor that was considered was the colour of the outfit. All the looks preceding my walk were colourful, hence black came as an easy choice to give the outfit a 'showstopping' effect.
Then came the choice between heavily or mildly worked-upon embroidered outfits. Keeping my image in mind which is crisp, clean yet stylish, we adhered to the key words towards picking out 'the' outfit as well, and hence the Indo-Western clean kurta with mildly embellished short jacket and wide bottom, straight-cut pyjama was chosen. Varun's craftsmanship ensured that the fittings were a cake-walk with no rework.
Another added jewel to my look came from Lamborghini's limited-edition watches. It just made it all look so complete, exclusive and suave. In simple words, it further accentuated the show's pinnacle outfit.
Finally, the show evening. Rashmi, the show director, briefed us about the designed show flow. Being the showstopper, I was the last, but not the least, to walk with two beautiful girl children from Lakshyam NGO helmed by Raashi Aanand, the organisers of this 'Fashion for a Cause' evening. It was an adrenaline rush that I felt when a backstage team member told me to 'walk'.
First was my solo. My heart pumped loudly as I tried to ensure the perfect carriage of the great look put together for me. Then, was a re-walk down the ramp with the children, which was so fulfilling yet full of responsibility too as I had to keep them safe from falling in the pool on which the ramp was created. In all honesty, though being a showstopper is projected as ‘fun', it is a huge responsibility. And only the final exit brings that sigh of relief.
