Overweight women have to face battles at every corner -- from rude salespersons to fat-shamers on the streets and in their own friends' circles. And finding the right kind of clothes is the biggest battle of all.
We all have the right to look fashionable – the only rule one should follow is to wear garments that suit us and our body type. And believe me when I say this, you can be plus sized and fashionable – really! You can dress cleverly tohide your flaws and play up your best features.
Meanwhile, here are four things you shouldn’t wear if you are overweight.
Heels: We all love to strut in style, but it is not only cumbersome to walk in stilettos but also a task balancing our body weight. If you are short, replace those 4-inch pencil heels with 3-inch platforms or wedges. On a daily basis, you can also wear block heels and do your back a favour.
Sleeveless: Avoid sleeveless, strapless and strappy dresses. It highlights your arms and makes you look plumper. Three-fourth, half and full sleeves are ideal options.
Tight clothes: Tight-fitted or clingy clothes highlight your problem areas even more. Make sure you stay away from them. Scoop neck tops, cowl neck tops and vertical printed tops are a few you must have in your wardrobe. Printed tops and dresses are the best way to camouflage those love handles. Go for smaller prints and maxis paired with a shrug.
Thongs: Undergarments make a huge difference. If you thought that you can skip that, well, you are making the biggest mistake. Wear the right bra size – ask the lingerie salesperson if you need a minimizer. Thongs make your butt look bigger and often make it look unbalanced so go for boxers or high-rise panties. They will cover your butt and make it look shapely – and you’ll be tension-free, too.
