While dry hair can be treated by deep conditioning, greasy hair can be tamed by picking up the right shampoo. But, if you fall in the troublesome category of combination hair – oily scalp with dry and frizzy strands, we understand your daily life struggles.
But not to worry, you’re not alone in this. Here’s how you can tweak your hair routine to treat dry hair and oily scalp.
Shampoo routine: Use mild shampoos and wash your hair thrice a week. It will wash away excess oil, without drying out your hair. If you think your scalp needs a wash but tresses are just fine, apply shampoo just on the roots and not on the length.
Use conditioner on hair
Conditioning routine: Post shampoo, you must use a conditioner. But the trick is to use it only on the length of your hair. It will revive hair strength and moisturise dry and damaged strands. Do not apply conditioner on the scalp and it won’t get oily.
Take professional help
Daily protection: Protect your hair from sun and heat as these are the major causes of hair dryness. Cover your hair with a scarf before you step out in the sun. Always use heat protection serum before using styling tools.
Cover your head
Professional treatments: You can get professional help to treat this situation. The deep-conditioning treatments will bring life to your dry strands, without heavily conditioning your scalp. Or, you can try a deep recovery mask for dry hair available in the market and apply at home. Do not apply it on the scalp, just your hair length.
DIY at home
Home remedies: There are couple of DIYs you can try at home for a healthy mane. To treat oily scalp, after shampooing, rinse your hair with lukewarm brewed tea. Let it sit on the scalp for 15 minutes and then, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not shampoo afterwards. You can do this once a week. To treat dry hair, make a mask. Mix 1 cup yoghurt and 2 tablespoon of honey and apply on the hair. Leave it for half an hour and shampoo later. Do not apply on the scalp, as it will make it oilier.
