We all love playing around with new and different eyeliner styles, and especially the ‘cat wing’! But it takes years of practice to achieve an equally balanced wing on both eyes. Even professional makeup artists have to clean up a few times to get the perfect shape. Samaanta Dwivedi, makeup artist and founder of the beauty blog Zuri.in suggests a method that will make any amateur feel like a pro.
Cut a piece of scotch tape and take off some stickiness from the tape on the back of your palm so that you don’t end up tugging with your eyes or lashes.
Sit down and place your elbow on a table or counter for balance and control if you don’t have a steady hand. The key is stable hands. Get in a comfortable position. Then apply a piece of scotch tape along the corner of one eye angled upwards toward your temple as in the picture. Make sure you do this at the same angle for the other eye.
Pick your liner and begin drawing a line above the edge of the tape. This will determine the length and shape of the ‘wing’. Apply liner from the outer corner of the eye, in a slant, until the tail of the eyebrow (where the brow ends). Use the scotch tape for precision.
Once that is done, continue drawing the line inwards from outer to inner corner, keeping the liner as close as possible to the lash line. Once it’s done, peel off the scotch tape gently and that’s it! You are left with two equally balanced out winged lines. You must be proud of yourself!
