Hermès, one of the most sought-after luxury brands in the world, known for it’s one-of-a-kind Birkin bags, has added another feather in its cap. Recently, Hermès sold one of its most expensive bags at an auction at Christie's.
How did the Birkin get its name? Well, the legend goes that iconic British actress Jane Birkin was once flying with Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas from Paris to London and she was complaining about not being able to find a perfect weekend bag that was both suave and useful. In 1984 Dumas created a bag leather bag for Jane, which eventually became a historical emblem of luxury. And that’s how the iconic bag got its name.
