“It's a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It's all about the individual and... designers all together.” -- Alexander McQueen
We have grown up setting some ground rules for fashion. We have stereotyped some garments as office wear and some as gym wear. But fashion has no rules; it is free from pigeonholing and typecasting. So here we are, telling you about the 5 rules you should risk breaking.

Rule #1: Trousers Are for the Workplace
If you believe that trousers are just for office, you are terribly wrong. You can wear then to a dinner party or for running errands around town. Pair high-waist trousers with a crop top and high heels and you are ready for dinner.

Rule #2: Sequins are for the Night
Really? One of our favourite looks this season is pairing a sequinned jacket with a white tank, ripped skinny denims and a clutch during the day. So get bolder, add a touch of bling to your day look and get over those qualms right away.
Rule #3: Wear Not More Than One Bold Colour
Who said we cannot wear more than one bold colour in one outfit? You can layer a green top with a yellow shrug. A colour-blocked bag or stilettoes can also make a style statement. All you need to do is manage the proportions of the colours -- unless you want to look like Govinda.
Rule #4: Menswear Is for Men
Raiding your boyfriend’s closet and borrowing his denim waistcoat or white shirt is the new trend. Androgyny has always inspired many designers. Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva is one label that is massively inspired by this trend. So if you want to look edgy or this is your personal style, do beg, borrow and steal from your guy’s wardrobe.

Rule #5: Sneakers Are Only for the Gym
Sportswear has evolved, darling, keep up. Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2015 collection included sportswear and sneakers. You can pair your sneakers with skirts, trousers and even dresses for a comfortable outing.
