From being an accessory worn by Irish farmers and fisherman to international ramps and being adorned by celebs such as Rihanna and Pharell Williams, bucket hats have become an insignia of easy and casual dressing today. They originated in the 1900s and became a fashion trend in the 1960s. What made them popular was their cool and comfortable structure. Wide, with a downward sloping brim, these hats have been reinterpreted in a number of ways by designers the world over.
What makes them a must-have?
If you are looking for an accessory that is funky and comfortable, then the bucket hat is your thing. Originally made in wool and tweed, bucket hats are the answer to a lot of your troubles during the summers. Wear it and you will be saved from the sun. Due to their structure and materials, such as cotton, they can easily be folded in kept in your coat pocket in winter. These hats became a part of 1960s’ popular culture and were adorned by a number of Hollywood actors and musicians. They were also a part of the mod subculture, which originated in Britain (what is grunge fashion? Click here to find out).
