This year has been absolutely stellar on the fashion front. I have seen lots of cool stuff in the men’s fashion segment, from designers and collections, to home-grown brands, a profusion of men’s accessories and even grooming trends. Here is a quick roundup of the five men’s accessories that have made a mark in my wardrobe and that I have been proudly sporting in the past few months.
I can safely say that, this year, I have sold my soul to espadrilles. I am usually quite comfortable in classic leather lace-ups, no matter how uncomfortable, they may appear. Earlier this year, I got myself a pair of red espadrilles from H&M, followed by my discovery of zobello.com, a Delhi-based website, which does some of the best espadrilles in India. So as things stand, I’ve ditched my loafers and lace-ups, and getting my nautical-theme on, with espadrilles, almost everywhere I go. This has been my key footwear for the year 2015. (I’ve got a pair of ikat espadrilles too.)

My viral bow-tie moment of the year was when I sported a stunning wooden bow-tie, in the shape of a scissor, by SS HOMME.
The Ubiquitous Bow-Tie: My penchant for bow-ties began earlier this year, in January, when I attended Pitti Uomo in Florence and Milan Fashion Week. The bow-tie is not an easy accessory to pull off. It does require a certain confidence and nonchalance. In addition, you really can’t just throw on a bow-tie like you would a pair of jeans. It needs to go well with your ensemble and the look needs to be very well put together. My viral bow-tie moment of the year was when I sported a stunning wooden bow-tie, in the shape of a scissor, by SS HOMME, to the GQ Men of the Year Awards night. Through the course of the year, I warmed up to the bow-tie and began sporting it more often. Now, it’s become an indispensable part of my wardrobe.

I cannot live without my sunglasses.
Funky Sunglasses: I cannot live without my sunglasses. Wherever I go, they go. I started the year with a pair of denim Wayfarers by Ray-Ban, in addition to my super practical folding Clubmasters, from Ray-Ban too. Then, in the latter half of the year, I got my hands on a super funky blue pair by Opium Eyewear, and I’ve been sporting them all over the place.
This year has been big on jewellery for me. My metal of choice is platinum.
Some Precious Platinum: This year has been big on jewellery for me. My metal of choice is platinum. My motto is understated bling as this reflects my personal style as well. Platinum jewellery is inherently luxurious and, in my opinion, makes a statement without being too overt. I’ve been sporting a few precious platinum pieces, which make me feel like a million bucks, without me having to shout it from the rooftop. (Word is, this is going to be the biggest jewellery trend for men, for the year 2016.)
My Breitling watch pick is the Navitimer GMT, a timezone watch with a 48mm diameter.
Watches (Swiss-made, please): This year, I’ve been fortunate enough to sport, try and review some stunning timepieces. My two favourite watch brands of the year are Breitling and IWC. Both these brands have a strong aviation connect and hence, me being an aviation geek, I can’t stop raving. My Breitling watch pick is the Navitimer GMT, a timezone watch with a 48mm diameter, featuring a Manufacture Breitling Caliber B04, in an 18-karat gold body and alligator strap.
