Did you know that baking soda not only helps your cake rise but also uplifts your skin? Yes! We are serious. From acting as a toner to an antiseptic and restoring the complexion, it can do a lot of good to your skin. Baking soda also balances the body’s pH balance and helps fights cancer when you eat it. Here are the different benefits of baking soda you probably didn’t know about. (Read also: Beauty benefits of multani mitti.)
Eliminates Scars: Do you have scars, blackheads and blemishes? Don’t worry. Just dip the affected area in a mixture of water and baking soda for 10 minutes twice a day and they will be history.
Moisturizes Skin: Moisturizing creams are not the only option to get rid of dry skin. Take half a tablespoon of crushed sugar, one tablespoon of baking soda, and a few drops of olive oil. Mix and apply on dry areas and wash off after 10 minutes. (Why do we need sunscreen 365 days a year?)
Removes Makeup: It is very important to remove makeup at the end of the day and baking soda acts as a good cleanser. Just mix baking soda in water and dab it on your face with a cotton ball. Keep away from your eyes as it can hurt them. Once the makeup is removed, rinse your face with water. You can also add baking soda in bathing water to remove dirt and oil settled in your skin. The dead skin around the eyes will be removed by the fine powder-like consistency of sodium bicarbonate or baking soda. It also improves the blood circulation around the eyes and reduces the wrinkles. (Here are some more ways of getting rid of wrinkles)
Reduces Tan: Baking soda can help get rid of a tan. In the shower, put some baking soda in your palm and dampen it properly. You can also add lemon juice to baking soda. Rub it well on the tanned areas and rinse. (Here are more ways to remove skin tan.)
Heals Rashes: If you have rashes on your skin, make a paste of three parts of baking soda and one part of water. Apply it and help the skin heal!
