Busy weekdays leave little time for skincare. We crave for healthy and glowing skin but blemishes and fine lines kill our desires to achieve that. And then, we spend our weekends in the parlour to make it better. But did you know that the cause of blemished skin is not the frequency of your parlour visits but your beauty and skincare products? Well, it is time to spot the 6 mistakes we all make and to get on the path towards healthy skin.
Dehydrating the skin: After washing our hands or bathing, many of us don’t apply any moisturising cream or oil. This makes the skin dry and dehydrated, so it is important to dab an alcohol-free toner followed by moisturizer after washing.
Mishandling blemishes and pimples: Do not prick pimples at an early stage. It leaves scars and can spread to other parts of the face too. If you must tamper with nature, squeeze out the pimple when it is fully ripe and apply antiseptic cream on it immediately.
Not applying sunscreen: It is very crucial to apply sunscreen in both summer and winter. It protects skin from the UV damage, and prevents wrinkles and fine lines. The higher the SPF, the longer you can stay out in the sun.
Sleeping with makeup on: If you sleep with makeup on, it smothers your skin when it needs to rejuvenate itself, and causes pimples. It also ruins the pillow covers! Make sure you use a cleanser and moisturiser before sleeping.
Using the wrong cosmetics: You should choose skincare products according to your skin type. People with dry skin should go for moisture-based products. Wrong products damage your skin.
The wrong soap: Many soaps have chemicals that make the skin dry and accumulate dead skin cells. The body must be cleansed with mild sulphate-free soaps.
