Your 20s are when you are likely to first start noticing the signs of ageing. There can be several factors that can age your skin including poor diet, genetics, pollution, high stress and harsh chemicals in skin care products.
Skin care expert Sheetal Rawal shares her best homemade anti-ageing face masks to combat premature ageing. These face masks work for every skin type.
Sesame and almond oil face mask
This anti-ageing mask keeps wrinkles at bay. Sesame oil is rich in antioxidants. It repairs damaged skin cells and also slows down ageing of the skin. Similarly, almond oil is loaded with Vitamins A, D and E, which keeps skin healthy and glowing.
2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp almond oil or flax seed oil
15 drops Vitamin E oil
Oat flour to make a thick, creamy paste
Mix all the ingredients well. Massage your skin with the paste with upward strokes for 5-7 minutes. Leave on for 10-12 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water and then, follow with your serum and moisturiser.
Grape and jaggery face mask
This homemade face mask speeds up the skin's renewal process. It also reduces signs of ageing and keeps in check the free radical damage, leaving you with glowing skin. It is made from grapes, tea, jaggery and turmeric. Grapes have flavonoids, antioxidants and alpha hydroxy acids, which is great for the skin.
2 tsp grape pulp (smash some grapes and keep the skin)
1 tsp cool black tea
1/4th tsp turmeric powder (do not go over this quantity as it can stain the skin)
1 tsp jaggery powder (or powdered brown sugar)
Rosewater to make a thick paste
Mix well and apply on your skin. Do not go too close to the eye area. Wash in 15 minutes and follow with serum and moisturiser.
Jaggery and lemon face mask
This homemade face mask helps banish dark spots, pigmentation and melasma. Jaggery powder is a natural source of glycolic acid, which when used appropriately can reduce blemishes, dark spots, dark patches. Lemon, rich in Vitamin C and citric acid, fights hyper-pigmentation.
1 tsp jaggery powder (or dark brown sugar)
1 tsp tomato juice
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/8th tsp turmeric powder
Warm green tea to make a paste
Mix well and apply on your skin. Wash in 12- 15 minutes.
